Specialty Show and Trial Rules
NATIONAL SHOW CHAIRPERSON

1. Once the Chairperson is confirmed by the Executive Committee, s/he serves at the pleasure of the President and the Executive Committee.

a. The Chairperson shall serve as an ad hoc member of the Show Rules Committee working with the committee on any changes needed regarding the Show Rules.

2. General Duties

a. Advises the President and through him the Executive Committee (EC) on all matters concerning the annual specialty show.

b. Reviews, clarifies and determines completeness of bids received. Informs and makes recommendations to the President and EC as necessary.

c. Visits and inspects prospective show site(s) for suitability and reports to the President and EC before the latter votes on the bid(s). Areas to be addressed include, but are not limited to, the following:

1. Nearness of site to a large airport (served by what major airlines)

a. Type of transportation of dogs & equipment available/planned

2. Information on show site -
  • How it meets show rules      specifications to include ring requirements;

  • Adequacy of grooming area(s);

  • Proximity to host hotel;

  • Handicapped accessibility at show site;

  • Adequacy of seating;

  • Climate control;

  • Applicable fire regulations;

  • Available food services;

  • Adequacy of vendor space;

  • Adequacy of electrical hookups;

  • RV parking with hookups

3. Information concerning the host hotel -
  • Cost of rooms;

  • Banquet facilities;

  • Adequacy of space for other functions, meetings and seminars, including no charge for use of these rooms based on room occupancy;

  • Availability of hotel transportation - exhibitors and dogs, to/from airport, show site, etc.;

  • Adequacy of dog exercise areas;

  • Hotel rooms concerning dogs in guest rooms;

  • Handicapped accessibility;

4. Information of other near by hotels/motels which accept dogs.

d. Advise and assist Hosts and Host Show Committee as needed in areas as follows:

1. Preparation and submission of bids

2. Review of all contracts before signing

3. Assist in negotiating prices for room rates, facilities cost, banquets, etc

4. Assist in budget preparation

5. Assist in planning for most efficient usage of available space, equipment, personnel, etc.

6. Assist in developing a time effective judging schedule

7. Maintain necessary records of activities.

e. Perform any other tasks related to the annual show as directed by the President.
3. Budget:

a. A budget shall be established to cover expenses incurred by National show Chairperson.

b. Expenses covered include:

1. Office - mail, phone, FAX, copying;

2. Travel - to inspect prospective show sites;

3. Lodging - when inspecting prospective show sites
