1. The arrangements for all
Conformation, Obedience, Herding, Agility and Junior
Showmanship class trophies are the responsibility of the Host.
2. Trophies will be
distributed for above-the-class placings in conformation, in
addition to the CCA Challenge and Perpetual Trophies, as
follows
a. Best of Breed
b. Best of Opposite Sex to
Best of Breed
c. Rough and Smooth
1) Best of Variety
2) Best of Opposite Sex
to Best of Variety
3) Best of Winners
4) Winners Dog
5) Reserve Winners Dog
6) Winners Bitch
7) Reserve Winners Bitch
3. Trophies must be awarded
through the first two (2) placements in each regular
conformation class of both varieties. The third and fourth
placements must be honored with a rosette if no trophy is
awarded. (Trophies preferred).
4. Only one placement shall
be made in the following non-regular classes
a. Veterans class (Rough
& Smooth)
1. There will be only a
1st place rosette and trophy given
2. The remainder of the
class will be honored by receiving a rosette for
"Competition".
b. Best American Bred
(Rough)
c. Best Junior Handler
d. Best Bred-By-Exhibitor
(Rough and Smooth)
1. Exception - Best
Opposite Sex to Best Bred-By-Exhibitor to be awarded.
5. PER AKC RULES, the
following non-regular classes shall have up to four (4)
placements, depending on entry.
a. Brace (Rough and
Smooth)
b. Stud Dog (Rough and
Smooth)
c. Brood Bitch (Rough and
Smooth)
6. Trophies must be awarded
through the first two (2) placements in each regular obedience
class. The third and fourth placements must be honored with a
rosette if no trophy is awarded. (Trophies preferred).
a. Non-regular class placements must be
honored with a rosette, although trophies are preferred.
b. Qualifying ribbons shall be awarded to
each dog achieving a qualifying score in the regular
obedience classes.
7. In agility competition a
trophy and rosette for the Highest Scoring Collie in the
Agility Trial (20" & 24" combined) must be
given. The Agility Trial Committee must agree on the method
used to determine the HIT, before the start of judging.
a. Trophies must be given
to the top two (2) high scoring Collies from the 20"
& 24"height divisions in each of the five Standard
Classes. The third and fourth Highest scoring collie in
these classes must be honored with a rosette if no trophy is
offered. (Trophy preferred)
b. Trophy and /or rosettes
may be awarded to the highest scoring Collie in Jumpers With
Weaves Classes.
c. AKC requires that
ribbons or rosettes must be awarded to each dog that
receives a qualifying score, and to each dog placing First
through Fourth in each Height Division of each class.
1. Standard classes are: Novice A, Novice
B, Open, Excellent A, Excellent B
2. Jumpers With Weave classes are:
Novice A, Novice B, Open, Excellent A, Excellent B
3) Height Divisions are:
8", 12", 16", 20", 24" (when open
to all breeds)
8. All future trophy awards
must conform to CCA and AKC regulations.
a. No new Perpetual
Trophies will be permitted. (AKC rule since 1952).
b. Challenge Trophies
(three (3) time wins by the same person, not necessarily by
the same dog) are limited to Reserve Winners or above and
are offered to CCA members only.
c. Future CCA trophies may
memorialize only a person, not a dog. However, special award
trophies may be offered to the Host by anyone to memorialize
a person or a dog on a one-time win only.
9. No challenge trophies
beyond those currently in existence shall be accepted to be
awarded at the CCA National Specialty Show. Any exception or
deviation from this rule must be submitted to the CCA Trophy
Committee at least one year prior to the Specialty at which it
is to be awarded and specifically approved by the Executive
Committee.
10. Any person winning and
receiving a CCA Perpetual or Challenge Trophy shall be
required to;
a. Sign an agreement, at
ringside, that he/she will assume full responsibility for
the trophy's safekeeping and return to the next National
Specialty.
b. Return it personally,
or by Express, or by United Parcel Service prepaid to the
Host Trophy Chairperson prior to the next CCA National
Specialty Show.
c. The winner assumes
COMPLETE responsibility for the trophy's safekeeping and
return to the next National Specialty, upon signing and
taking possession.
d. Be fully responsible
for engraving the record of their win.
e. Should a winner elect
not to accept the trophy, he/she will sign a waiver to such
refusal, and will be billed for their dog's name being
engraved on the trophy.
11. The Host will not accept
any additional dinner awards beyond those currently in
existence. Any exception or deviation from this rule must be
submitted to the CCA Trophy Committee at least one year prior
to the Specialty at which it is to be awarded and specifically
approved by the Executive Committee.
12. The Host shall designate
at least a full page in the show catalog for describing the
Dinner Awards at the annual meeting. (See A1 for exact
wording).
13. It shall be the
responsibility of the CCA Trophy Committee to maintain records
and control of the current CCA Trophies.
14. It is the responsibility
of the host trophy chairperson to check in all National
trophies and ensure their safety at all times until their
legal release to that year’s winner(s) or to the following
year’s host trophy chairman (or representative)
a. National trophies shall be displayed in a
prominent place at ringside.
1. They should be on
display one-half (1/2) hour prior to the start of judging
and secured in a locked facility at the end of judging
each day.
2. It is the host trophy
chairperson’s responsibility to make sure that the
trophies are secured in a locked facility at the end of
each day’s judging
b. The chairperson, or designee, shall be at
the trophy table at all times during show hours. .
15. In years when there is
no Futurity or Sweepstakes offered, the Collie Club of America
offers $500.00 for special puppy awards which shall be
distributed as follows:
a. $100.00 shall be set
aside for Best Puppy from the Puppy Classes
b. $50.00 shall be set
aside for Best Opposite Sex Puppy from the Puppy Classes
c. The remaining $350.00
shall be divided between rough and smooth varieties by a
percentage formula - EXAMPLE:
1. Total entry 177
2. Rough entry 146 - 82%

21. The Trophy Committee
Chairperson shall be the custodian of the official CCA banner,
and shall make them available to the Host for proper display
for the duration of the show. It shall be returned to the
Trophy Committee Chairperson immediately following the Annual
Meeting and Banquet.
