Register of Merit
The updated ROM List shown below includes champions through the year 2007. With the inclusion of 381 champions from that year (212 rough champions and 169 smooth champions), there are now 13,341 Collie champions from 1884 through 2007 in the champion database.

There is 1 new addition to the Rough sire list; 4 new additions to the Rough dam list; no new additions to the Smooth sire list and 5 new additions to the Smooth dam list.

If there are any dogs or bitches missing, that you feel are qualified to be on the ROM List, please e-mail Gayle Kaye at Chelscolly@aol.com. Also, let Gayle know if there are any corrections, misspellings, omissions or changes. This List is a continual work in progress and sometimes dogs are missing on the original list of champions received from AKC. This inadvertent omission can throw off all numbers. Even a misspelled name can affect the numbers and resulting placement.

Rules and information

  • The eligible number of champion offspring is 20 for sires and 7 for dams.

  • Smooth and Rough (sires and dams) will be treated equally.

  • Smooth and Rough progeny will be treated equally.

  • Only American Champions count in the tabulation.

  • Tabulation is based solely upon the number of American champions produced in a dog’s or bitch’s lifetime.

  • All statistics are taken from the published findings of the American Kennel Club, as printed in the AKC Gazette.

  • Dogs achieving ROM status will be recognized in pedigrees by using the acronym, ROM.

  • At this time, AKC does not recognize the title or program.

  • Foundation sires and dams prior to 1960, will be tabulated with consideration as ROM Pillars.

  • If there are any errors, corrections or omissions please notify the ROM Chairperson immediately. The burden of proof shall fall on the owner of the dog or bitch. The current tabulations are pulled from the years 1884 to 2007.

  • The burden will be placed upon the owners of the ROM producers to fill out a special ROM application, indicating all owners (at the time of completion of championship), verification of CCA membership and other pertinent information such as current address. The certificates will be mailed out at yearly intervals (usually in the Fall). A yearly update will be given in the Collie Club of America yearbook and there will be periodic reports to the membership via the Collie Club of America Bulletin.
